Crop Health Management


This course is intended to provide students with the knowledge of the major pests and diseases of crops in Ghana, and the skills to effectively manage these pests and diseases for the benefit of man and the environment. It introduces students to the concept of agro-ecosystem analysis as a monitoring tool for crop health management decision-making on the farm. It further exposes students to the principles and practices of Integrated Pest Management (IPM), pesticides (inorganic and organic) and their sound management in the field and store, and relevant indigenous knowledge systems in crop health management. In addition, the course provides hands-on farm experiences in crop health management techniques including IPM and sound management of pesticides in the field and store.
